Preventative measures for Flu & Colds, as well as potentially viruses like of Covid-19 or Sars.

Andrographis Paniculata also called Green Chiretta is a commonly known remedy for viruses like the common cold, influenza, fevers, and noninfectious diarrhea.

Under studies that have been carried out. It has been found that it may have a therapeutic effect, with using it at a normal dose for a common cold, or an uncomplicated upper respiratory tract infections by orally dosing with the Green Chiretta.

In Thailand researchers have been looking at the uses of the plant, and its physiological effects. There findings were for the use in common colds and uncomplicated upper respiratory tract infections. They recruited participants who were given the medicinal remedy in a crude powder form in capsules three times a day for three consecutive days.

Then they measured the clinical parameters, such as the blood pressure, electrocardiogram, blood chemistry, haematological profile, urinalysis, as well as blood coagulation. The results showed a normalling of parameters to within a normal range. The results then revealed 30 minutes later a rapid decrease in blood pressure, and this had a substantial decrease in the systolic blood pressure. This results carried on throughout the first three days, then after the third day the results started to change. The researchers observed changes in some parameters as with the white blood cell count, and a decline in plasma alkaline phosphatase (APL) this is an enzyme found in the body yet found mostly in some of the organs like the liver, kidneys, and digestive system or in bones. When the liver is damaged the APL leaks into the bloodstream. At this time 5 of the main state hospitals in Thailand have started to use the properties of the Green Chiretta to repulse the effects of Covid-19 and build peoples resilience to the virus. In Indian the Ayurvedic medicine has always been very well used as it does not cost a lot and has very beneficial effect aiding the body and restoring health and vitality.

The plant has also been known as the Indian Echinacea, green chiretta has been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines for millennia, as a herbal remedy. It is a bitter tasting herb that has nickname 'King of Bitters' that contains a high level of a compound called andrographolides. These compounds are shown and may have properties, that are anti-viral, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory.

The benefits of the use of the herb, have been to date were evidence has shown that in conditions like Multiple sclerosis to reduce fatigue. In Ulcerative colitis as a way of inducing remission, in this condition. It has been promoted as a dietary supplement, and also a way to prevent and a curative in cancer, yet there is not so much research by western doctors that shows this so no evidence.

It also has a reputation of being one of a couple of handfuls of powerful natural antibiotics, that could potentially kill superbugs. The Plant is widely cultivated in south-east asia and is native to India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Burma and Thailand. Locally in those countries it has been used traditionally to treat bacterial infections and is believed to have stave off other disease bodies.

In medicinal uses it is mostly the leaves and the roots that are used from the plant.

In India it is traditionally used to cure jaundice.

The structure of the plant is one found to be of the Andrographolide family which is a Labdane diterpenoid, which was isolated from the stem of the plant. A Labdane is natural bicyclic Diterpene, which is a class of chemical compounds composed isoprene units, with a certain molecular formula. This are produced by plants, animals and fungi by a metabolic pathway through eukaryotes organisms that are a nucleus enveloped cell, archaea and some bacteria. Eukaryotes belong to a domain known as Eukaryota this is one of the domains said to be one of the domains of life, in a three-domain system. The other two are Bacteria and Archaea, also called as prokaryotes, all have there potential ancestral lineage that could be through the process of symbiogenesis. This being so the compounds in the Andrographolide family could formulate and may have the same properties as biologically important compounds such as retinol, retinal and phytol which have been found to be antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory. Labdane Diterpenes compounds then serve a variety of different biological activities including being antifungal, antibacterial, antiprotozoal and as has been said before an anti-inflammatory, so aiming to building a defence system for the body to work in.
